If anyone needs a ride to the airport you can hit me up. Also don't forget that the drinking age here in Alberta is 18 so hopefully that will entice you into coming.

I'll probably go, if I can get a ride.
(From North Vancouver, but could meet anywhere in the Lower Mainland providing it's near a skytrain station.)

#8, some quick searching shows several flights to calgary from seattle for about $350 round trip. Thats not too bad considering driving would probably cost ~150-200 in gas.

If you happen to be the type to take a 20 hour bus ride over a 1.5 hour flight, greyhound could also get you there for about 250.

Looks like there's going to be a 110 person lan in saskatoon with tf2 as a tournament as well in july. Waiting for an admin to get back to me on the rules for it.

There are bus services from Seattle to Vancouver, BC for roughly $24 each way, and if you make it to Van you have a spot in my car 100%. If it comes down to it, I'll try to sort out picking you up, but that eats up over 5 hours of time for me.

I'm interested but I see a problem coming up

"dad can I go to canada to play video games"
"sure son, how are you going to get there"
"somebody on the internet is going to drive me"
"no son, I am not going to let a stranger from the internet drive you to canada. You will get molested."

what do I do help me.

Well... there's the option of taking a bus from Seattle to Calgary, but then you're still staying in a strange country by yourself, and the bus ride is 20+ hours. That said, you'd be able to get a ride from a bus depot in Cow town to the event... I'm sure someone would step up for that.

I'm hoping to convince another BC player to step up with a vehicle, because it seems like there'd be enough interest out here to fill another car. A ride up to Vancouver, BC might be all it would take.

If your folks aren't cool with that, there's not much I can suggest. Keep in mind you'd need a passport. A letter of approval from your parents for your travel to another country witnessed by a notary public (easy to get) could possibly save a shit ton of headache at the border as well.

Thank you for the advice Oafmeal. I really appreciate it. I'll think about it and discuss it with my parents. They're usually pretty cool, and like it when I show independence (by getting a ride from somebody >_>).
here's a heart for you, from me.

dat $600 plane ticket. Even though it wouldn't be an international flight for me.

Maybe next time guys :<

EDIT: If it's more economically feasible, I might be convinced to drive from Toronto if anyone else here (2 or so people) want a ride in the area and are desperate enough to tolerate a 24 hour+ car ride with me (as well as splitting gas)

Even then I'm not too sure because that's a long ass fucking car drive. VIDEO GAMES.

If you decide to go that route, I'm pretty sure it's faster to drive through the US than it is Canada. Also I'm pretty sure it is a shitty shitty drive and you'll spend 250$ on gas / food / (hotel?) each way.

but if you go through the US you have to deal with border people and toll roads and shit.

its probably easier just to stay in canada

Yeah I wasn't considering going through Canada since it adds way too much time to an already shitty trip. I am not a convicted pedophile so I usually have no issues going through the border. Also figured going through the U.S. might let us pick someone else up that was looking for transportation.

But yes, very shitty drive just to play video games. I'd only consider it if there were 3 people willing to do it with me to split the bill. As cool as this event sounds since I'd be able to visit some people I know out West, I can't dump $600 into it for just myself.

If it helps, here are the major cities I'd be going through if I found enough people (3) interested to make such a trip financially viable:

Hamilton, ON
London, ON
Detroit, MI
Chicago, IL
Minneapolis, MN
Fargo, ND
Regina, SK
Medicine Hat, AB
