let's make sure we're all on the same server, as switching your characters from different servers will cost money.

That is true, but since you're all still in decision I figured I would suggest it so that I might not have to do that.

I would prefer Sea of Sorrows since that is where the goons from SomethingAwful are playing and there is going to be a lot of ownage on WvW from them.

well guys remember you'll have unlimited ability to play on other servers using the free "guest access". this is mostly for playing WvWvW with your tf2 buddies along with a host of other things.

also lets make a huge tf2 guild

Definitely! As far as I know, the guest access wont exist for the beta tests though.

Honestly, I'm going to be playing the fuck out of Diablo 3, but since I'm getting the game from selling all my useless TF2 hats, I might buy GW2. Someone should make a realistic review of it when it comes out that compares it to other MMO's. I was going to preorder TERA, then I got into one of the early closed betas and immediately changed my mind. I just don't want to throw money away on a game that's going to turn into wow in a year. Also post what server you pick in the review if possible :D

I realize you're asking for one of us to make or find a hands-on review, but this might help clarify some things that make guild wars 2 special. The video is a tad dated though.

I've played Guild Wars 2 for about 6 hours total and have been following it in development for a LONG time. If you have any specific questions about the game that you want to ask you can add me on steam and I'd be glad to answer them to the best of my ability.

I realllly don't want to play on Yak's Bend, mostly coz I want to World PvP and it seems like every community is joining Yak's Bend. There's like 8 different websites all doing Yaks :(.

AFAIK the only big site doing Sea of Sorrows is SomethingAwful, also coz they don't want to play on the server with so many communities. More competition that way.

I don't think quantity of people on any given server will be an issue. I think WvWvW will be fun regardless.

Quantity of people is a very big issue, because there is a population limit of ~100 people per server in each of the 4 maps for WvW (or at least, that was the cap in the previous event, although Anet said there is a possible upper limit cap of 2,000 people total in a whole WvW match). This means the more overloaded a server is (and Yaks Bend has Reddit, GWG, Yogcast, and Gametrailers on it, ie it will be loaded 24/7), the longer you have to wait in a queue to play WvW.

yea. the question is should we play yaks bend cause everyone will be there (larger servers seem to have an advantage on WvW) or avoid the queues and go elsewhere?

it looks like yaks bend is going to be the final choice though....unless anyone else has other suggestions?

IMHO pick an active server like yaks to avoid having to wait for groups etc. nobody wants to wander an empty server.

Reddit is on Darkhaven, along with another top pvp guild to counteract yak's bend's over population, gogogo i'm going there with about 10 other people

The limit per map is actually more like ~500 (or are you saying it's different during beta events?), but I see your point and I would be fine if you all decided to change to a lower population server to save time considering we only have the weekend to play. I'm fairly certain my friends are onboard to join whatever server is chosen for this community.

rr are you choosing based on redditors? if you're choosing based on whos going to win WvW, it looks like sorrow's furnace

Sorrow’s Furnace - (DAoC Vets), VexX Gaming (PvP), Hearts of Chaos (PvX),GuildMag, Kabal, GWDen.com, Arena Junkies, Perfect in Theory (PvP), Descendants of Honor (PvX), Guild Wars Insider

Yak's Bend - gw2guru
Darkhaven - Reddit
Sea of Sorrows - SomethingAwful
Anvil Rock - /v/ and /vg/, Facepunch

preferably not last 3 servers because I am "not a fan" of those groups. I suggest we play on Yak's Bend or Sorrow's Furnace.

sounds kinda boring to be on a server where all the people are going to zerg too because they have "good pvp guilds" on that server, but idk, my friend wants to go on dark haven cause he reads reddit 24/7, he said yaks bend too, idk

#23 Yaks Bend is also going to have Yogcast and Gametrailers.

Yogcast + GW2Guru will flood that server since they are huge. :[

i feel like people are worrying about there being too many people on the server, making it difficult for us to actually participate either due to WvWvW map capacity or the fact that we might dominate the entire map due to sheer numbers.

unless I missed something, you can't say quality > quantity 100%. if our server has dozens/hundreds(?) of turd burglars who have the option of waking up at 3 or 4 AM to sneak up to a building.. they will dominate the other servers. edit: well, at least until the server matchmaking system has a chance to act, so the larger servers get put up against the other large servers. so I suppose it will balance out, but i'd hate to play on any other server for the first two-six weeks, depending on how long it takes.
