its not about quantity its all about quality

But there is a cap on the # of people who can be in World PvP at once, previous closed beta had 100 per world per map, Anet has said that on live World PvP between 3 worlds can handle up to 2,000 people total (500 per map split across 3 worlds).

Quantity matters a lot if you want to play World PvP, which I do and I think there's several others here who would want to do it a lot. I really do not want to be in a long queue (in a limited time beta), and worse, not be able to play with the people I want to play with in WPvP coz all the slots are taken up by tons of people who want to squad up in World PvP. :/

The larger the server, the longer it's going to take you to queue into it.

I revert my original statement of saying Yaks bend and opt for Sorrow furnace. Arenajunkies is gonna be there so there will be a shit ton of pvp elitists to make fun of

Also thinking about it, reddit and gw2guru will probably have the actual gw1 vets. Reddit has a pretty big guild on guild wars, while most of the other servers will have a bunch of players completely new to the series.

people interested in getting into doing high end pve and speed runs are probably going to be on those servers

time's countin' down until we need to pick a server. i'm down for whichever, the popular ones seem to be Yaks and Sorrow.

i have a 10slot mumble friends and I are going to be playing in if anyone wants to hop in. just make sure to do it near the beginning so we aren't at a huge level difference (not sure how scaling works in this game for XP). we also play SMNC, so if you're decent at that feel free to hop in I guess.

turts.mumble.cc 31520 wutt

alternatively I just installed murmur onto my VPS, so anyone can hop on there and play with friends. this one's a 100 slot, but the one I listed above is only 10 (it's from CC, using it until subscription dies)

add me to steam, or find me in mumble, and i'll hand out admin privileges for whatever you may need.

Theyre setting it up so you can play together without worrying about level gap. :D

basically every area you get scaled to that level

so even if you are, lets say, a level 25 fighting in a level 20-23 zone you'd be scaled down to level 23.

however, I'm not sure if you go to an area above your level if you get scaled up.

You don't.

PvE is strictly scale down, World PvP is scale up.

Yeah I am, I just got my 14th point, going strong. Working on finishing EotN missions then it's all about making money for the rest of the points.

I am deffo getting to the Charr area asap to do their jumping puzzle near their first big town that TB showed off. Looks cool.

But first thing I am doing is spending the 2k free gems they give you on extra character slots, making 1 of each profession, and 5v5 PvPing on each of them.

I heard somewhere that pre-ordering from amazon doesn't count as "pre-purchasing" because they don't charge you until the game ships, so you wouldn't be able to get into the beta events.

No, pre order and pre purchase are different. Only pre purchases get into the beta. So you need to either buy it from GameStop, Best Buy, or Green Man Gaming atm.

is it possible to switch server instances, if so why is it unituitive as eff?

edit:so far i'm pretty disappointed.

completely awful strafing mechanics, the performance isn't great (one and only game I can complain about performance with my PC, but it's beta), took me forever to realize that it automatically connects you to teammate's server instances when they open up (it doesn't tell you that), and lack of sensitivity command.

The performance is awful yeah, it's the last thing a lot of devs wind up doing. GW1 had really fantastic optimization once it got to the later betas, so this should be ok.

Elaborate on strafing mechanics? just rolling around isnt that great/usable or what? also the last 3 issues are defo going to be addressed with player feedback.

Ye, tho I am going to go take a 5-6 hour nap now. If anyone wants in just post your character name in this thread and I'll send you an invite if you don't get invited by Slin by the time I get up.
