If people can't play against a team that isn't playing strictly vanilla line up (2 sollies, 2 scouts, demo, medic) then prepare to lose in matches. Our team is notorious for off classing sure, but when we are running it in a scrim, as a serious strat people need to stop crying and learn to change your strat and play against us. Otherwise, feel free to let your team die, since as soon as you face a match with a heavy and a sniper you will have to dc and ffl

nah, I'm not crying. I just feel like it's a legitimate point to make. People will minus frag and that's fine.

I would say it's considered bad taste to run frequent utilities other than sniper in just simple scrims. It's true your opponents shouldn't complain, but they should have every right to just get up and leave the match to find a different scrim against more serious players.

And no, it's not because your opponents "need to learn to change their strat", it's because they are trying to scrim a particular map to prepare for a match, and they aren't going to have to worry about such nonsense off classing then. They are trying to train to beat a standard line up, not a goofy off classing one.

if it works it works, many people can't understand the difference between a troll and an actual attempt at something new. if bombs team is beating you with a sniper and heavy you really should re-evaluate what you're doing wrong and think what you could do to win, its not impossible to stop them, if it was then the top teams would constantly run sniper heavy

Utilities that are used seriously are fine. For example, we sometimes run pyro, heavy, and engy at last. It's gay but it's effective - so expect to see it in scrims and matches.

Where I believe people have a right to complain is versus teams that have a superiority complex. If you accept or challenge a team that's in open and you're IM, that doesn't mean you should all be dickheads and randomize your classes and treat it as a lobby. Respectfully decline the scrim invitation or play no-bullshit.

I don't think that I have ever played against you, but as others have said, it's hard to know when a team is trolling or attempting something different. Maybe when trying something different, explain to them before or after the first round that you aren't trolling and you're trying a new strat. It could help out a lot.

So if you were on a decently skilled ESEA team in the middle of a season, and knew your upcoming opponents weren't trolls, are you really going to want to be playing against heavies and pyros?

Playing a standard lineup would seem like it would benefit more.

I disagree deathanchor, people need to be able to adapt, no mater what skill level. Just because you scrim nothing but vanilla line up leading up to a match means absolutely nothing if you cannot adapt. The opposing team in the ESEA match runs something different and you can't switch to deal with it, well again, the match is over.
In regards to my team we don't really have the position to say we can troll because looking at our record we are not a team that can afford dicking around after what's happened in the first half of the season. Also, it seems that once we do have people that start to troll we end up losing. We played IT tonight and they rolled us with our so called off class line up so it goes to show that teams, like us, need to adapt to whatever is going to be played and become better AS A TEAM and stop complaining about off classing.

running dedicated "offclasses" is not bad taste unless it's done in explicit and sole disrespect. if you're losing because spadez isn't missing shots, it's your problem, not theirs.

Playing against constant heavies, pyros, etc. isn't particularly fun. And I play to have fun.

Just try this shit once against a seasoned IM team if you ever get the chance to do so. I highly doubt you will ever make it with your current mindset.

See the problem here and what bomb is talking about is that if you play against match against them they are going to do the same thing. They are not doing "goofy off classing" but the strats they want to use. You're training against one strategy that not everyone is going to use.

Reminds me of when I used to watch people scrim against Pharmacy and 1-2 teams would rq scrims or not scrim them again coz Hooey would go Pyro and wreck. Then when it came to match time guess what Hooey would sometimes do and wreck?

All the classes are valid, and they are a part of the game. If a team works an off class into their strategy and it works more power to them. Most off classes have limited use, like engy for holding last (or gpit) but most people aren't good enough with a shitty class to use it full time. I like to see teams try new things tho... it keeps things interesting.
