It was summer leading into my sophomore year in college, friend of mine said he'd got a kick ass game that I should see. I noticed it was a second team fortress. I wasn't aware that the orange box had been released (I was big of TFC when I was in like 8th-9th grade).

I was hooked ever since. Some of my pub buddies made a 6s team and I was all set to join, but then college got in the way and delayed my eventually forming my own team 2-3 years later. I'd blame EXTV coverage, the game just looked so fun in that format, and really it is. There's no experience in tf2 that gives me as much pleasure as a really close 6s match.

My friend wanted me to try it, and relaxedfire got me into comp. I remember the first time I played was on a all crits toyfort server and I was awful at everything except for soldier which was my first class that I liked.

The "Meet The ______" videos got me into TF2 at first. I got into competitive through the "clan" I was in at the time, with my boy Benk <3

i saw videos of the game on youtube, just random pubber videos, go over to my friends house and tried the game out on the ps3, eventually buy it for ps3 myself then moved onto the pc, what got me into comp play was long ago i used to actually main medic (4 years ago) and i saw our team on hydro had 4 medics, so i signed up for my pub community with a secondary as soldier so i went that, then i knocked a pyro like 30 feet in the air with a rocket and thought it was legit the coolest thing i had ever done in my life, i played soldier non stop since then because i was hooked on knocking people into the air

Was just looking for a "different" type of action game in walmart and I saw the box there for $20. I was choosing between that and CS:S. God, did I not screw up and buy CS:S back then.

A CSS friend named Nero told me how easy the sniping was so we played sniper wars on 2fort. Then i took a teammate from cod4 to start a TF2 team, and thus /<ryptic was born.

I came from a sniper niche community in TFC. When the TF games were being released (Fortress Forever and TF2) it was debated where the community would go next, with FF winning. I had TF2 in beta and found sniping to be really fun so I pubbed it like crazy. Some people recognized me from TFc and had me ring for them in the different formats people were trying for comp.

After seeing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jtO1cZXJKoc I was pretty open to the idea that maybe sniper could work in TF2 unlike it did in TFc. Of course then they nerfed the quickswitch.

Portal. I hadn't even heard of the team fortress series before but it came with the orange box so I tried it and loved it.

It was that extra game on the orange box and I had no other multiplayer games at the time. I started playing it as something to play alongside hl2dm.
