Yyyyyaaaaaaoooooooo!!!!

Ladies and mentlegen, It's my pleasure to finally announce the eXtv i46 fundraiser to get 2 North American teams to i46.

http://extv.chipin.com/
eXtravision:

The plan is to take the 4 teams that qualified for ESEA LAN, since they are very demonstrably the top 4 teams in NA, and have shown a capability to get to and perform at a LAN. All teams have been communicated with regarding passports.

The teams will play in a fundraising tournament held under the i46 ruleset. There will be a round-robin to establish seedings, and then it will be a single elimination tournament following from there. Casted at http://www.twitch.tv/eXtvESports Time + Date will be announced during ESEA LAN coverage.

eXtv will be handling the money, and we ask for your trust in these regards. This is not a solo-eXtv project, we have already had a lot of help from people in the community helping to guide this effort and will only succeed if the community comes together to support this.

We think $20,000 is a high estimate of potential travel costs, and we will be trying everything we can to keep costs down in order to make this happen.

What can you do to help? Donate, or if you can't support us monetarily, help us publicize this event as much as possible.

Publicize our chipin with a widget:
(tried but failed to put an eXample in, help?)
http://www.chipin.com/mywidgets/id/745584b35a9345df

Have you watched and thumbs up'ed our eXtravision reveal episode? Will you put out promo graffiti with an in-game spray? Get hyped, and spread it! #i46 #InternationalTF2

We certain will consider merchandise production to support the effort. Plans will become more specific as we get closer, and we will do our best to update the fans on the fundraisers status.

If we have eXtra money I'd like to send gifts for donors. Still open to discussion there.

In order to establish which two teams are representing North America, eXtv will be organizing a 4-team tournament featuring the 4 teams that qualified for the ESEA LAN, (Mihaly's Flow, Srslybr0, Classic Mix^, and Leviathan Gaming - formerly known as Quantic) playing with the i46 rulest.

Why not just treat ESEA LAN as this?

Because ESEA LAN will use ESEA rules. For i46, the teams will follow euro rules (medic unlocks only). This has a significant enough effect on the metagame to warrant an additional tournament to decide which teams are best under these conditions.

They are gonna compete using the vanilla ruleset. The ESEA LAN results would be null and void due to the different items and rollouts of Vanilla TF2.

We plan to take the top 4 NA teams to i46. NA teams will win all of the prize money. European sponsors drop their teams for NA teams. Multiplay iSeries collapses. European TF2 is in shambles. NATF2 explodes. It must be done.

As much as I love tf2 and lans raising 20k from donations is not plausible. Huge sponsors like corsair, antec, and thermal take don't give anywhere near that for lans like pax and gxl. I'm sorry but this is just an extremely unrealistic goal for 1 team let alone 2

Could also be the eXposure (saving Jeff the hassle of correcting it later) that TF2 needs in order to be taken seriously. Hey, look, if you love the game, buy a shirt, donate some money - whatever. We'll see how it all turns out... I'm usually pretty pessimistic (or as I say, realistic) about this stuff, but I think now that there's an actual product backing it and some tactile reward you get... it's got a good chance. Who says we don't raise $10k and have Antec, Cruicial, Corsair, Razer or whoever take notice and fund the rest? It's all about getting word out there.

"Pessimism is as American as apple pie - frozen apple pie with a slice of processed cheese."

A couple of my friends and myself will be contributing. In and around 5k.

I will be putting eXtv's chipin on my twitch page next week, as well.

I'm sorry to be a dick but I think you bungled the reddit thread. There's a huge potential for donations from reddit especially with international play. Reddit users are extremely fickle when clicking on any link that isn't an imgur and even more so on comments of youtube links. Your title says nothing about charity drive nor even implies it. If I'm a reddit tf2 user, I probably don't know what i46 is. With 65,416 and 1% donating 5$, that's 3250$ and I'd think %1 is pretty modest since even though most don't care about comp, there's a great deal of pride of a north American team going over to EU and beating the top teams. Your title doesn't prioritize the i46, your video doesn't either. If there's some rule about asking for donations that I don't know about then I apologize but otherwise I think you should try and fix that because there's huge potential revenue there.

Extine, there are other ways to reduce the cost, for example, for those of us that travel a lot likely have a lot of miles and some miles (at least mine) can be transferred to other people for a small fee. I think mine is like 50-100 bucks which depends on the amount that is transferred. I have about 200K miles right now, but I would have to check on what amount could be transferred.

Anyways, this would be a way to drop the cost a lot.

good feedback killing. Titling is touchy on /r/. The eXtravision post on /r/TF2 won't be the only thing that goes up about it. the posts on /games and /esports had the fundraiser issue more prominent and directly linked to that part of the video.

Someone else said this about Reddit awhile ago, if you're asking for donations make it into a picture form. They will literally eat that shit up.
