Also, I think 20k is way too much for just a simple fund raiser, you'll almost need a quasi-movement. What I would suggest is making an informative video. This should NOT be the hype with frag clips of players names in the bottom right:

-Top 4 North American Teams
-Estimate of how much you guys need
-About 2 minutes long (nobody wants to watch a 5 minute long plea)
-MOST OF ALL, it has to inspire people to donate (i.e tournament of epic proportions to finally see which continent is the best). I would try to make it hype without including frags.
-And that o so sexy eXtine voice

What you would do then is make this a downloadable video (also include a default description for the video's if people would want to just copy paste) and have everyone with a youtube channel with a fair amount of viewers post this up (shit even if they only have a few it's all good). This will reach the demographic that cannot be contacted via natf2 and reddit. I wouldn't be surprised if TLR posting this video on his youtube channel would attract quite a few donations (for those wondering he has nearly 5000 subs eagerly awaiting his next video release). He is only one of many tf2ers with popular channels. I think it'd also be extremely beneficial to send a note to other popular gaming channels THAT HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH TF2. These days everybody is esports happy and willing to spread the love. I'm sure eXtine is much more versed with the youtube universe than I but if you could get a TB to post this video, you'd be seeing a huge boost. I'd make sure to put in the message that even a simple tweet towrads the video/chipin link would go a very long way and that you'd appreciate it. Of course he is only one of many famous personalities that come to mind that enjoy tf2. djWheat and husky are just a couple of others that come to mind. Most will reject the video but will probably comply to a simple tweet.

As with all things, time is of the essence. If you decide to make this video (which I'd strongly encourage), the longer it's out there, the more money you'll see come in.

There is still time for that Killing. Sal and I filmed some promo pieces that will be coming out. Once we get details settled for the Tournament, we will be hyping that eXtensively as well.

you could do it like euro trip and deliver something at the i46 event for half the cost, just saying....gl though it is something that should be done though to show what the USA scene is all about (well the NATF2 scene)

Yeah FZero (#21), that'd be awesome. Lets talk again closer to the Tournament. Can't buy tickets till we know who's going, but we can get setup with some details like that that would help alleviate the cost.

There was a /r/ama comedian linked me that would have some good tips as well: http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/v82rz/iama_deltaklmair_france_reservation_agent_that/

Ticket prices right now are good, but it also depends where people are flying out of.

Ok, one more thing. I think a little more information is needed in your post regarding the amount of money you are trying to raise. What are you doing with the leftover amount? How many people are you fundraising for? What amounts are you guessing for travel expenses broken down to categories.

I really think it may help to have more donations, I think a lot of people don't understand the fucked up cost of flying to Europe right now. I just did a simple bing search and it came out about 16K for 6 people. Lastly, I would advise you to explain that you are paying for your own airfare, if that is true, so that donations are only being funded for the players themselves. If you need funding for yourself, then I would do a separate fundraiser for you at the same time.

PS- don't quote me on giving away miles just yet, I haven't asked my wife and it's an ass ton to give away that she may want to use.

How many people are you fundraising for? - 12. We are buying tickets for the two teams of 6. We aren't buying tickets for ShdwPuppet or Sal, who already have tickets, or eXtine.

Travel eXpenses still really comes down to which 12 players qualify. How many from east coast? how many from west? I do not disagree that being more specific with eXpenses will help us be transparent and make people feel comfortable donating to this cause.

When I priced out air fare given a month's notice, it came to $1200 round trip, at least from Houston to Manchester. We'll be working with the teams on finding low fares and getting ground transport to the LAN.

You'll want to fly into London if you want cheaper fares. A few hours more of riding on the bus/train is probably worth what you'd save.

Also, use Skyscanner to find the best deals. I'm flying direct to London from Newark for $500 (One-Way) this summer, during the summer olympics, which usually provoke super high fares.

y did Waffleb get downvoted? dont h8

Birmingham's Airport is an option as well, since if it's not a direct flight you can get cheap connectors at other Europe airports.

I heard that bing.com/travel is actually pretty good too.

p.s. thanks irie, looking forward to it.

bing is good, but is US focused, doesnt have best deals for international travel. It is the best for travel in the US though

Weird, it was cheaper for me to fly into Manchester when I booked my ticket. I take it you aren't going to i46 then?

Killing has some really great ideas. Im sure someone like R33MIX (WITH OVER 50,000 SUBS) would gladly post said video. Like Killing said, ANYTHING helps. Even contacting Valve and simply ask them to put the fundraiser details on a blog post would be huge. I dont see why they wouldn't.

This is absolutely amazing though. If this happens it's going to be huge. I plan to donate as much as I can. This is a great chance for NATF2 to really come together as a community. LETS MAKE IT HAPPEN

Food and lodgings for players
Computer rentals for players (not being comped by multiplay)
Air fare for players
These 3 should mostly take the 20k. Anything extra will go to eXtv camera equipment so that we can make our documentary about the 2 teams.

Ok, I'm sorry, there is no reason to pay for food and lodging for the players really. They are basically getting a free vacation, they should be able to pitch in for their own food.

Considering Brad's already trying to raise his own and his friends' funds to get there I don't begrudge them the food and a hotel room.

If you'd prefer the remainder of the money (after airfare and rental computers only) go to eXtv to help i46 event coverage then that's something we can negotiate with the players.

I think asking for hotel money is reasonable. Food, however, should be on them. I'd rather the food money go to eXtv.

Should go like this,

Airfare>Computers>FUCKING FILMING EVERYTHING>hotels>food

If we pay for your tickets, give us a great video since we won't be making it over there.
