At least one other person has asked for this config, and I'll post it in case anyone else wants it. I made a config last night that doesn't allow offclassing and bans most unlocks except for the commonly-used ones (eg equalizer, gunboats). That means people can't ruin fun/serious games by going pyro the whole time, being a useless sniper the entire game, or going rocket jumper + market gardener or anything of that sort. Of course offclassing and unlocks are useful and viable sometimes, but in lobbies, and when pugging with the wrong people, people don't seem to be able to understand when they need to stop using those things. There's really nothing wrong with playing with a cookie-cutter setup anyway, and the lobbies I've played with these restrictions tend to be noticeably better and more fun than those without them.

Oh and the frying pan is banned just because it hurts my ears and I hate fun.

Mmmmm.... not sure why so much hate. Though I do think the offclass limiting is a bit extreme. You just sort of have to expect people to do asshole things a bit, it's a low low low- level pug after all.

That said I can confirm that the games are generally better if you run these configs, for obvious reasons. I have my own configs I use, basically a whitelist that limits a lot of the shit weapons. Many, many times I've heard "WHAT, WHERE'S MY ATOMIZER? WHERE'S MY GRU?? MY LIBERTY LAUNCHER??? HOW CAN I PLAY THIS??!!" Pathetic.

Of course most important is that all the people who are plus fragging the hell out of each other here are all the ones who would be raging if they joined your lobby only to realize that they won't be able to run hunstman sniper the entire time after signing up for a soldier slot. These people are waaaay over and beyond lobbies, I mean the talent, and skill of these guys. It's incredible. That's why they're playing in those lobbies, naturally. To uhh... have fun. Or something. Yeah that's it. As long as you have fun it doesn't really matter if it's ruining it at all for up to 11 other people. Yep, personal fun's all it's about. Not about it being a team game and a group effort. Yeah.

Oh hey, Desukin. First of all you're in the UK where, last I heard, The Original was not allowed because GOD FORBID UNLOCKS CHANGE OUR GAME.

I've been running PUGs on my server lately and over the course of several games I have a sizable list of players who refuse to play with you anymore. A) Because you're sarcastic and immature 90% of the time, and B) you do stupid shit that, while it might benefit you, you have no foresight into how it will negativley affect your team.

So we played a gully scrim where Desukin played demoman (I was on the other team), and Desukin is a scout main, and we had another scout main play demo on the other team. Well shortly after the first round Desukin switched to demoknight because he just can't handle using those sticky bombs. They're so hard to shoot ya know. He probably did do better, personally, and started fragging more as a demoknight, since most scouts seem to have good pipes.

Despite your decent personal results your team was expecting to play with a demoMAN not KNIGHT, and could not adjust to the type of game you were playing. And I don't say this to blame your team for not being able to play with a demoknight. I'm more trying to say, hey, man up and do your best with trying to fill the role you were assigned.

Their team got decimated and people were getting upset that my team just constantly pushed through (because no threat of stickies). Well he could have gotten no frags at all and have been more useful to his team by sticky trapping and playing smart with a stock loadout. Toward the end our guy also went demoknight to try and be a gentleman and even the playing field but at that point their team was in disarray and arguing about the demo situation so it didn't matter. And hey, maybe it would have been a 5-0 with a stock loadout too, but when you're clearly not doing all you can and satisfying the role you signed up for then you're going to be among the first targets for critique when shit starts going wrong.

So yeah great job revolutionizing that metagame, Desukin. We're all frightened of these radical metagame changes, man. Try looking at the big picture more instead of playing for your own fun and nothing else. Actually why am I writing this when you're just here to troll? Huh.
