On a serious note, this is exactly why I thought the eXtv tournament was a bad idea. Although I do agree that unlocks completely changed the dynamics of NA TF2 I believe that playing on LAN performance is much more important than Unlocks performance. LG are just so dominant on LAN, it'd be a shame to not seem them go to i46. It should have been first place of LAN and then maybe first place of their tourney.

Next weekend. I have to agree with killing and also say this LAN only showed that this online tourney does not test the "LAN-worthiness" of a team. I say you should just send LG and mix^ to Europe.

Maybe replace smaka though. All the Euro demos are b4nny fast

Agreed. How can you not send b4nny to i46?

On the other hand LG have said before LAN that the didn't really care about what happened during the season so long as they qualified for the LAN. But once LAN comes around they actually try hard. So hopefully they will try hard for the eXtv tournament too.

That doesn't take into account the fact that some players are just more comfortable playing at home and therefore play better.

They lost 5 games in the regular season... they had a lot of trouble getting a med locked in. Part of the perception of their weakness coming into this LAN was that they'd just been so dominant the season before. 5 losses suddenly becomes dave_ac not fitting in and Tyrone being awful.

The story of this LAN isn't LG coming out of nowhere against all odds, They were contenders and showed it when they beat flow on granary. The story isn't the mix^ vs. LG rematch either.

The story will be Flow's wheels just completely coming off because it was certainly more shocking than LG struggling in the regular season and then coming in 11-5 to win it all.

The biggest reason for having a separate eXtv tournament is that the rosters will change significantly based on who has passports and the time to go. LG might mostly stick together, br0 might as well, but Flow will almost certainly have big roster changes and I think Mixup might as well.

It didn't make much sense to promise all 4 of the teams that despite roster changes and unlocks, we'd send the LAN winner, especially since most people thought it'd be Flow hands down going into it. (ninja edit: and when we were discussing with the teams how to decide which teams would go, LG wasn't even sure clckwork had a passport/wanted to go to i46.)

This LAN proved that the LG guys really do dominate the NA LAN and I'm happy to see that. Don't count them out of next weekend's tournament.

I have to agree that LG just had a rocky start on their season which caused losses.

In my mind, that only solidifies my argument. This isn't the send the winner of an extv tourney to i46, it's send the BEST North American team to i46. Even before LAN finals, LG was the best team to send to a LAN. Now you're going to give these 4 teams one week to prepare for an extremely important tourney while they'll probably be in burnout (not to mention that they will then have an extra month and a half to become accustomed to them). Flow is definitely the best online team, I actually think that if finals were online that that was their's for the taking. Now you're gonna stake this whole thing on a tourney with Flow putting together a whole new roster albeit I'm sure Brad will make a great one but this weekend has been a testament to consistency. This entire thing has been absolutely ridiculous and while I appreciate the work and effort eXtv has gone through to put this together it should never have been eXtv sends a team to LAN since it's the donors footing the bill.

To me, this tournament seems more like a "who can learn more about vanilla in a week" tournament. Not to mention the fact that online means nothing when you take into consideration the blatant advantages some players have over others online (ping, fps). It just seems the most logical to me to send the best LAN team to a LAN tournament. I think teams can learn as much as they need to about vanilla without a tournament, especially considering they're top players. That's just my two cents.

Hey guys... the rules and methods for qualifying a team for i46 were established prior to LAN and I believe the teams agreed upon them when eXtine originally brought the idea up. I think the issue here is that past performance can not guarantee future results. We'd love to send all 4 top ESEA teams, but we just don't have the resources to do that. LG's performance at S11 LAN was certainly impressive, but it was never a condition of qualifying for the trip. Any team is welcome to fund their own trip to i46 and enter - I believe it's open to all - however, our tournament will be the decider for what team is guaranteed of a trip paid for by eXtv and the community.

As stated before it would make sense to send the LAN winning team however not all the teams are going to have the same roster and this will definitely affect who the most qualified to go would be online tourney or not.

The community donations are most likely only going to partially fund the trip - we'll be going out of pocket on everything else, especially the costs associated with the documentary.

Whatever's still needed? I think they got $3000 in donations meaning $3500 has to come from eXtv with tickets being at least $1000 each.
