But what if my original name was a retarded name with a bad history? I think starting fresh shouldn't be hated on.

Do you really think the alias of an open player is going to seriously impact the decision of a sponsor that is going to put money into a game? Mind you having sponsor names doesn't actually do anything for the players. If a sponsor is seriously considering actually SPONSORING a team (read as: Not some bullshit Quantic sponsorship) something like an open player changing their name has such a miniscule effect it may as well be completely discounted. I doubt any sponsor actually putting money into the game would be interested in open to begin with, let alone on the aliases of the players playing there. fou/nd/you forever |

you said it perfectly! when i lobby/pub it blows when everyone in the server instantly recognize who i am because it takes away from the experience. the whole inappropriate name thing though, i'll stay away from that. |

So change your alias in lobbies/pubs and leave it the same for the ESEA client. And June's right, this really doesn't matter to sponsors at all. Once TF2 gets to the point that viewership can generate significant returns for sponsor money, that's what matters. If he's popular enough and enough kids want to emulate him/buy the gamer gear he promotes, I doubt a player with a name like "shitonmyfuckingchest" would even need to change his name. OK maybe he would. |

Also, for new players getting into the game, it makes it a lot harder to learn who people are with constant alias changes. Lots of Invite (back ups) and IM players change their aliases all the time, and if someone has a favorite player, or is just trying to be a fan of the game, aliasing makes it about 10x harder. Running newbie mixes, please message me to coach. |

i can see not knowing the rosters of teams if you're casting open or ugc or somethin, but if it's a low level match like that then who cares if you say someone's alias instead of their name for IM and invite though its not like there are a lot of teams/players to know, presumably if someone wants to be taken seriously as a TF2 caster they should probably be familiar with the rosters of the premier tf2 teams and it shouldnt really require "research" to figure out that moose is dabes or what have you oh and yea offensive names are dumb that should probably go without saying |

Yeah, I have started to use this before I cast ESEA games to make sure I get some more focus on the players and their histories. |

It's not about either of those things. The entire thread is really just "if you want your game casted by me, here's the minimum requirement." |
