-dxlevel 81 not an option eiter. Works with it as well but alt-tabing is slowed down even worse.

I still have this issue:

Odd thing though: I launched all my installed games on steam to see if any of them worked. Killing floor was the only one that had the overlay. The reason? The resolution was 800x600. I tried a few other games at that resolution, overlay worked fine. But anything higher than that, doesnt show up. What could be the cause of this? Seems like something that I could fix.

Help please!

My mumble overlay still works - although it's spotty (if I alt-tab it's super screwed, if I load up mumble after tf2 is open it wont show up) I run regular dx 9...

My tf2 is however it my native resolution. Maybe that's the issue? That damn overlay shows up everywhere even in windows I've shrank in my browser. Like say I have 3-4 tabs open in firefox, ALL of them will have the mumble overlay in them lol. I also believe I'm on 1.2.2.

Go to Overlay > Overlay Exceptions and you can add programs you don't want the overlay to show up w/ under Blacklist, or only allow programs you want the overlay to show up w/ under whitelist

This happened with me in Thunderbird and it was really silly

i play tf2 and smnc in native resolution and only smnc works.

the -dxlevel 81 parameter is the only fix. but i always thought it didn't matter if you used the parameter, it always uses the last used directx level

quite an enigma

if you have borderless windowed mode then you can afford to use one of the extended direct x versions (81, 98) that seem to fix the problem

I used -nod3d9ex and that solved the problem. Supposedly it makes alt-tabbing slower but I use windowed mode anyway. I am also using dx98.

given up on trying to fix this since the pyro update, -nod3d9ex is what i'll have to do, i haven't noticed too much drop in performance so far, but will have to compare.

I've been just putting in and taking out the -nod3d9ex launch options for any matches when I really need it. Guess I'm just gonna wait until something happens.

In the TF2 launch options I use: -nod3d9ex -win -noborder -w 1920 -h 1080
and it works, I tried many different ways and this is the only way that works fine.
Btw, I'm using -dxlevel 90.

-nod3d9ex works for me but one other person on our team had this issue and "fixed" it by downgrading to the last mumble version (1.2.2 i think?) so maybe that would work for those of you who can't use the switch

I'm using Mumble v1.2.3, so maybe that's not the problem, try fake-fullscreen with native resolution and -nod3d9ex.
EDIT: It works with any dxlevel and Mumble version, try doing it as I said no matter what 'dxlevel' or Mumble version you are using. I don't know any other solutions.

What i'm saying is that in cases where -nod3d9ex is not an option (people not using dxlevel 9) downgrading mumble might be an alternative since 1.2.2 doesn't seem to trigger the same issue, at least for the dude on my team who went back

I think I remember how I did it!

You have to go into overlay settings and whitelist hl2.exe

Worked for me! :D
