I play medic for Power Rangers, and I'd like to have an IM level or higher medic go over one of my demos with me. I'm mainly looking for advice on my positioning, and how I can be more effective with my ubers.

Or maybe we should have players voting who actually know what they're voting for/against? |

I've never even heard of cp_evergreen. Foundry and cp_ashville are good candidates, but why only four maps to pick from? I could list about six or seven maps total that deserve a vote-in. Croissant, Standin, Follower, koth_ashville, and Mainline would all have a good chance at beating Warmfront in a poll, which I think should be the basis of whether the map should be in the poll in the first place. Granted, you can't really put as many maps in as exist because then the results would be skewed, but I really think that at least Foundry, cp_ashville, Mainline, Standin, and Croissant should get in the poll. One map I'm curious about is cp_quay. I've never played it, but it's from the developer of Snakewater. I know the new maps pug group played it a fair bit, how did it do? Was it viable for ESEA, or is there more work to be done on it? |

Process and Standin were, and last I checked, they were in the last two seasons. cp_ashville is also still in beta. Last edited: Tue, 03 Jul 2012, 12:24am by StingerPA |

That's just a silly argument. If we use that, it instantly limits the maps we can put in the vote. Follower, Croissant, Yukon, Metalworks, koth_ashville, Freight, Well, Foundry, Obscure. Metalworks has failed what, three vote-ins? There's really only three maps in that group that should be given a chance, Croissant, Foundry and Follower. Croissant hasn't faced a vote-in yet, and Follower is a good map that was arbitrarily thrown out by the ESEA admin at the time, and was highly competitive in the last two vote-ins. Foundry has issues with there not being too many scrims on the map, so not many people know what to expect. All the others have had their chance. Hell, Metalworks has failed the last three vote-ins. All the others got voted out or have performed terribly in vote-ins before. There's not really much else out of beta. Looking at the last two seasons, I don't think we had any problems with maps simply because they were in beta. Standin didn't really do great, but that was more because it wasn't that good of a map, not that it was underdeveloped. This season we had Process, which I think will be a staple map for many seasons to come. Both were beta, and were ready as they were for league play. There needs to be some beta maps in the group, especially if they're pretty much fully developed as is, and the creator is willing to adjust the map after the season as Scorpio did with Process already. |

I would pick all of the ones who are going to play in IM next season. The hard part here is figuring out which ones are actually going to survive. As far as I know, teams aren't actually put into IM until about a week before the season starts, and I'd figure you want to have the weapons decided sooner rather than later. If that doesn't sound feasible, then you could just take the teams that played in IM playoffs last season. |

Going back to the banned items, I would suggest expanding the voting to at least some IM teams, like those who were in IM this past season and are continuing on to participate in IM next season, too. Right now I feel like there's too few people voting on the weapons in the first place, and it can lead to radically different results each season. The way it's set up now could result in having Bonk banned, and EQ (now the Escape Plan) + gunboats unbanned like last season, and then we could see the opposite of Bonk being allowed and EP and gunboats banned. That's just a huge shift that could happen every season and screw with everything from season to season basically forcing us to guess whether something will be banned while scrimming before the ban lists are announced. If you're not wanting to go to IM teams, how about having each invite team have 2 voters each? I feel like you're wanting highly experienced players to be the ones voting, and having more invite players on the panel can only lead to better results. |
