Thanks

I'm mainly just trying to use what i have. Right now i'm at a mid point of going back to school and job change. So sadly i can only do stuff at that location. Extra cash is what it is, not there :<

It's frustrating as hell being a student again and not being on a salary. Gotta go for better things and not dead end myself even if i gotta cut my budget a bit.

Everyone freaks out at the word free. So i've said it, now run in fear.

I have a terrible hobby of building machines and doing dedicated / colocations. This time i've simply just got extra space and resources i won't possibly ever use.

The box specs are as is:
I7 3770
16 gigs ram
OS drive SSD
Server/Other drive HDD 7200+ quality

The pros:
Free
Good Hardware
It can be a great backup or whatever you want to do with it

The cons:
It is central US located out of MO at the Oak Towers DC.
Weird issue with initial ping stabilization that generally happens on initial join. I've tested numerous things which i can rack up to either they have an old switch or router in house. It stablizes after about 5-10 seconds and stays down.
Finally this is my first run with a colocation with this company. Their dedicated servers were fine but lower hardware.

Also you want to see a speedtest? Since this should be a home line right?
http://speedtest.net/result/2183901147.png

I have a test MGE server up. Just use the url H3R0.us the port is default and it should show up right away if not :27015

Test out the MGE see if it may be what you can use. The fast download and all that is already enabled and set. If it tests out ok and you would like to try doing a match or whatnot on it. Toss me a message. Currently it has soap and mge with the basic MM/sourcemod. Configs are basic. I can setup ftp if you need to change anything out and have a bash script for killing / restarting the server. Also regardless of normal play i have it set to restart at 6am to update ect... It can be changed.

Lastly, who the hell am i?
I've been setting up servers since NS1, tweaking linux kernels for real time and other possibilities when i believed that having 1000fps for everything was a bright idea. Been through CS, CSS, and many other configs and setups. Other than that, i'm just a random guy who stopped having time to play as much so i took a hobby in setting up and configuring servers on my own time. Got some certs through CompTIA and working on Microsoft certs.

This may be ideal for newer teams O or IM who just need a server or backup.

Thanks
Apollo

Ill donate a server if needed. I'm doing testing though on a colo out of oak towers. Solid box though, i7 3770, 16 gigs ram, and an ssd. Not sure if it would really be beneficial with the ssd other than map loads. I haven't been able to test :<

Toss me a message with the setup wanted for the servers ect... Been running around a lot with computer repair and school but i always can remote in to get anything setup and make some bash scripts for automation.

I have my A+, Sec+, and Net+.

The material as of now is all old but they are starting to integrate Windows 7 questions. Maybe 10 out of the 100 ect... Depends on the test. Most the A+ is basics though and very little networking other than knowing the difference between POTS (telephone), 66 block, 110 block, and basic stuff like cabling such as cat 6 is fire resistant and blah blah blah

Then when you get into Sec+ it is slightly harder but further on the same generalities and then Net+ is about the same as Sec+. I ended up studying subnetting and further techniques for no fucking reason and i was pissed. But also glad that the Net+ wasn't what i thought.

Let's hope they fix the routing to some places in the US. The area is good. But not the routing of Chi / TX :<

If they did that i might stop looking at the other 2 locations for colo / dedi box's.

The lenovo y series goes on sale randomly at around 7-750. It has decent specs for even gaming. Only 15" though. Usually rolls with a gt 555m 1-2gig. Depends on the sales though.

Dwelling, why would anyone believe a known scammer. After you take their money, get hounded enough for providing faulty services, and filling them with lies, will you feel bad and pay them back the money too?

Also there is no way newegg would ever give away hard drives worth more than multiple components even on a complete system build. It is just bad business and they would be losing out on a real buyer / business. You are A. Not an enterprise class client, B. Not even an established business client, and C. Most likely not even established in your sales enough to be noticed by any member of their team for such sales.

On another note comparing yourself to a national company when you are a new start up business is well simply as it looks. "Hi, i'm joe. I have some servers for sale. I'm just as good as Microsoft. We all make mistakes. They release bad software, i move around locations and change hardware."

Next moving to pre-buying dedicated machines. The cost is generally the same and you are charged for a windows OS. Over 2 years you will have paid for a machine you would have colocated and paid the same amount for a dedicated box. The numbers just keep going up to, unless you go linux.

Moving forward 90 servers per node on 3 TB a month which is the equivalent of 10 megabits per second unmetered = overages and more charges. Rethink the plan or get the proper popes. I'm assuming there is no other traffic in there.

I will say one thing though, as a reseller for some time. We love clients like you. Hope you can keep paying your bills, because the rates don't just disappear. But then again neither do the clients and massive amount of people you piss off. 1 bad experience tells 10-20 people. 1 good experience maybe 5. The rate after that of people actually listening and not looking your name up on google is another thing. I would hate to have such dirty feet smudging my business.

Sup scammer? Who the fuck would ever want to do business with someone so shady. You are fixing problems that would only be fixed because you are being called out on them. If you are caught in the real world by a law enforcement agent doing fraud, scamming, and illegal content while stealing other copyrighted material along with false claims, you are not only sued but on your way to jail.

So now that we have Dexel here to explain himself. Please explain to me why so much wrong is now right without your apologies, making amends for what you did, and now surrounding yourself with lies only to be fore fronted by a community that is giving you a HELL of a lot more experience before you get yourself in some real trouble. Be happy you were called out and corrected by people who won't report you and sink you and your business into a legality.

Umm i just read on their forums from some guy DrJenkins rep'ing embercore that they were using pirated software on their site. Apparently reported for some off kilter whmcs version? What is the deal with this? This guy is going to be in a world of trouble soon.

a snippet from their whmcs

I have fixed the few things that were wrong. I have given free servers and credit towards servers to players. I have 2 teams sponsored atm. I am just talking to the wrong group of players who don't care about buying servers. If they did they'd have valid questions and comments. Valid as in, relating to or pertaining to this EmberCore or our Game Servers.

I don't think this is true at all. There is interest, you just came off wrong, then fought topics you were not knowledgeable about, proceeded to change locations, and were overall unprepared. Not only that but you also lied to them unintentionally then corrected. Now you are degrading the very community and people you would be selling to and potential later customers. Word of mouth is pretty big. It isn't good to burn bridges. I would recommend an apology to anyone for any misinformation followed by a clean slate of what you have and can do for them. Only if you are functional now. Then try to start fresh. Look at the thread from the beginning and if you were the consumer. If you can't pick that up, you will have big problems.

Wish you the best.

The problem is the community actually has too many standards. What they look for and have been fed, they also expect for newcomers. Which makes it twice as hard on new people coming in. They are used to either an existing company or standards that are set by existing. Which makes it all the harder on a new guy to step in. There is no fail in starting a business. Just learning and rebounding. If you can rebound and expand off this, then you will do well. There is no need to fight or argue with anyone. You made a mistake which you stated you made. Work to correct it and fix things up. Don't blow up things. You will always take hits. It is business, gaming servers in general are hard to get into unless you have some in's or a strong base to start off of.

Take this start as a hit and either A. get everything straight and make amends or B. find something else.

Good luck either way

p.s. It doesn't help half the people will blame problems with aim on hit registry and a number of other things. Since personal fault is never at hand. Also all the bull they have been fed about 10000000 fps and how it makes things better, which only holds true in certain scenarios. These guys and community are people who have played publicly and in pro / making money scenarios. They are not just dimwits who will take from anyone especially if they don't get the right vibe, service, or output from the individual.
